The president of our congregation passed away recently after battling ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) for over a year. I was blessed to have known this man, even if it was for a short time. He was one of the members who was instrumental in calling an associate pastor from the seminary, and I’m forever grateful. His name is on my call papers, hanging on my office wall. Every time I see them, I’ll think of him and the trust he had that the Lord of the Harvest would provide someone to serve at Redeemer. I’m humbled by his faith.
The one thing I’ll remember about him is his trust in his Savior. In spite of all the things he went through, he trusted that God works all things for good for those who love Him (Rom. 8:28). His focus on evangelism and sharing the love of Christ is something that will stay with me for the rest of my life. God bless you, Troy, and all you saints here on earth who have inspired me to walk on in Christ’s name!
If you have a post you’d like to share with your memories of Troy, I’d welcome your comments!
